Senior/Risk Case Analyst – Fixed term role until 30 January 2026

Are you up for an exciting new challenge? We are looking for someone to join our supportive Risk Management team on a fixed term basis at either a Risk Case Analyst or Senior level. You will be doing rewarding and important mahi to ensure learners receive quality tertiary education.

About the role 

NZQA is responsible for ensuring the quality of non-university tertiary education organisations and the qualifications and programmes being delivered across New Zealand. The Risk Management team manages regulatory compliance and risk in the tertiary sector. This includes investigating educational quality, student safety and financial compliance. We are seeking an experienced analyst or senior analyst with a successful track record, ideally with previous experience in a compliance or investigative role.

The role requires managing a varied caseload. No two days are the same! Some of the things you will be doing are:

• managing risk cases including investigating and taking action within a regulatory framework
• engaging with students and providers on a day-to-day basis
• visiting providers as part of an investigation (from time to time)
• collaborating with other teams within NZQA and liaising with relevant agencies.

• a ‘doer' with a continual improvement mindset who enjoys seeing the outcomes of their work.

Previous experience of regulatory or investigative work and/or knowledge of the New Zealand tertiary education sector would be an advantage.
