Senior Project Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, pragmatic Senior Project Manager to join the team at this government agency

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Project Manager to drive and coordinate several initiatives, including a transformational project to better ways of working as well as replacing and decommissioning a legacy system.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Standard project management activities like status reporting, risks and issues management and schedule management
  • Work closely with the business, IT teams and vendors to ensure the projects are delivered seamlessly
  • Play a pivotal role in overseeing and then delivering these initiatives
  • Regular updates on status and performance to the executive management team


Experience required

  • Strong stakeholder management skills. The ability to engage and influence various stakeholders
  • Previous experience in managing projects across a large complex environment
  • Good mix of business and IT project delivery, with strong change management expertise
  • Motivated with the ability pick up and deliver existing projects
  • Enabling business change through the use of technology
  • Experience in navigating ambiguity in delivering best possible outcomes.


NZQA is accountable for managing the New Zealand Qualifications Framework, administering the secondary school assessment system, independent quality assurance of non-university education providers, qualifications recognition and standard setting for some specified unit standards.   

NZQA has a goal to be a Te Reo Māori learning organisation by 2020.
