Advisor Pasifika – Delivery (Auckland Based)

Looking to make a difference for Pasifika youth and community?

This is your chance to work in a small and motivated team which has a versatile and dynamic role within the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, based at our Auckland office.  We are seeking an Advisor Pasifika – Delivery, to join the Office of Pasifika, to lead the delivery of projects and activities that contribute to improved educational outcomes for Pasifika learners.

An important part of the role is to develop and lead the delivery of NCEA ma le Pasifika workshops, contribute to Pasifika in STEM information programmes, maintain and enhance key partnerships and projects in the Auckland region.   You will also advise and contribute to the development and implementation of the NZQA Pasifika Plan.

This is an opportunity for you to combine understanding of NCEA and how the education system works with insight of the cultural factors which impact Pasifika learners to develop and deliver programmes that enhance student achievement outcomes. 

You will need a qualification at Level 7 of the NZ Qualifications Framework and/or experience demonstrating understanding of Pacific protocols and excellent communication skills both through writing and verbally. It would be desirable that you are also able to communicate verbally in a Pacific language.

You will also be agile, collaborative, have spades of initiative and fluent in technology and Microsoft applications.

NZQA is accountable for managing the New Zealand Qualifications Framework, administering the secondary school assessment system, independent quality assurance of non-university education providers, qualifications recognition and standard setting for some specified unit standards.   

NZQA has a goal to be a Te Reo Māori  learning organisation by 2020.
