Visual Arts Panel Assistants

We require temporary staff to assist with the 2018 NCEA Visual Arts Levels 1 and 2 Verification and/or Level 3 and Scholarship Marking processes.

Visual Arts Panel Assistants:

  • are responsible for careful and respectful handling of candidate portfolios,
  • work co-operatively and constructively in teams,
  • consistently engage in all work processes to ensure uninterrupted work flows for the marking panels,
  • respond promptly to Floor Manager's instructions, carrying out tasks in an efficient manner,
  • contribute to the unpacking, processing, arranging on the floor and packing out of candidate work,
  • systematically and accurately read and record detailed information (may include some data entry),
  • attend to various other duties, as required by the Floor Managers, and
  • treat all information relating to the marking and verification process as confidential.

In addition to the above duties, two Senior Panel Assistants will be appointed to:

  • take on leadership roles, either on the floor or in data entry
  • take on extra duties as required by the Floor Manager and NZQA staff.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • specialise in art education,
  • are prepared to work long hours and some weekends,
  • are able to perform manual work, including some heavy lifting,
  • are able to organise own transport.

Dates
We have three sessions available. These are:

  • Session 1 – Verification (Level 1) – 24 October to 1 November
  • Session 2 – Verification (Level 2) – 2 November to 9 November
  • Session 3 – Marking (Level 3 & Scholarship) - 10 November to 13 December.

You may apply for one, two, three or all of these sessions. However, you must be available for the full duration of the session(s) you apply for. As Level 2 requires the greatest number of Panel Assistants, preference will be given to those applicants who are available for the duration of the Level 2 session.

Payment
Senior Panel Assistants: $25 per hour

Panel Assistants: $19 per hour.

No penal rates apply.

Location
The location is Badminton Hall, Naenae, Lower Hutt.
